1Scanner for Mac Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026 · 1Scanner for Mac
The short version: 1Scanner works on your Mac. We do not collect, sell or share your personal data. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, no account and no server that receives your documents. The app goes online only when you click Check for Updates or Install and Relaunch.
This page covers 1Scanner for Mac and is complete on its own. 1Scanner for iPhone and iPad and 1Scanner for Android have their own policies; the principles shared by every app of the line are in the 1Buck Apps Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are
1Scanner is developed by Antosha (Anton Trantin, a private individual and independent developer, publishing as Antosha Apps; "we", "us"), as part of 1Buck Apps. Contact: [email protected].
2. Data we collect
We do not collect personal data. 1Scanner does not transmit your documents, signatures, stamps, codes or usage to us or to any analytics, attribution or advertising provider, and it has no account. 1Scanner for Mac is free: there are no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
3. What 1Scanner uses on your Mac and why
Everything below is processed locally on your Mac. 1Scanner opens only the files you open, drop on it or pick, and saves only where you choose; it doesn't look through your folders.
- PDFs and images you open — to show their pages and to make the new files you ask for: signed, merged, split, compressed, password-protected copies, or page pictures. Your original files are only read; 1Scanner never changes them. New files are saved only where you choose.
- Passwords of locked PDFs — the password you type to open a protected PDF is kept in memory only while that file is open, so the copies you save can keep it. It is never stored or sent anywhere. A password you set on a copy goes only into that file.
- Signatures and stamps — images you add from a file, a photo taken with your iPhone, a drawing or a ready stamp. The paper is removed on your Mac, and they are kept in the app's own folder (
~/Library/Application Support/1Scanner/Stamps) until you delete them. - Photos from your iPhone — when you take a photo of a signature or stamp with your iPhone or iPad, macOS's Continuity Camera passes it straight to 1Scanner on your Mac.
- QR codes and barcodes — read from the pictures and PDFs you give 1Scanner with Apple's on-device Vision framework. Found codes are kept only while the app is open. Links are checked from their text alone; nothing is looked up online.
- Clipboard — read only when you paste a picture to look for codes, and written only when you copy a code's content.
Data stored by the app — your signatures and stamps (above) and a few settings, such as the last size limit you chose for compression, are kept on your Mac: signatures and stamps in ~/Library/Application Support/1Scanner, settings in ~/Library/Preferences/app.antosha.onescanner.mac.plist. They are never uploaded. Version 1.0.0 kept them in ~/Library/Containers/app.antosha.onescanner.mac; 1.0.1 copies them over once and leaves that folder as it was, so you can delete it.
4. Network use
- Check for Updates — only when you ask, 1Scanner requests
https://onebuckapps.com/1scanner-mac/version.jsonto see whether a newer version exists. The app adds no identifiers and nothing about your Mac or files. As with any website visit, your IP address, the time and standard technical request data reach Cloudflare, our network provider, and our web server. Web server and network logs can contain the IP address, time and requested path and are kept for a limited time. - Install and Relaunch — only when you click it after Check for Updates found a newer version, 1Scanner downloads that version's disk image from
https://onebuckapps.com/downloads/, checks it on your Mac, installs it in place of the current copy (which goes to the Trash) and restarts. The request carries the same technical data as above and nothing about your Mac or files. - Links you open — a link from a QR code opens in your browser only when you choose to open it; links in the app (for example this policy, support or our social channels) open only when you click them. The websites you visit handle data under their own policies.
- Apple — 1Scanner is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. macOS may check the app with Apple when you open it; this is handled by macOS, not by 1Scanner. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
5. Donations, support and children
- Donations are voluntary. They are blockchain transfers that you make yourself in your own crypto wallet to the addresses shown in the app or on our support page. 1Scanner never sees them and does not connect to any wallet. Blockchain transfers are public by design.
- Support emails: if you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to answer you. We do not add you to marketing lists.
- Children: 1Scanner is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
6. Your choices
Delete any signature or stamp in the app at any time. To remove 1Scanner, drag it from Applications to the Trash and delete its container folder named above.
7. Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above; material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes. Questions? Write to [email protected].
