Where Cleanup is better than 1Cleaner
- Maturity. Cleanup has been refined for years by a large team and has more edge cases covered than a new app can. If you hit a bug in 1Cleaner, write to [email protected]; the developer answers.
- Email cleanup. Cleanup has a junk email tool. 1Cleaner does not clean email.
- Social proof. About 730,000 US App Store ratings at this check. That does not establish better tools, but it is a longer track record.
Where 1Cleaner is better than Cleanup
- Price. $0.99 a week versus $5.95 to $11.99, and $19.99 a year versus $29.99. A year of 1Cleaner at the weekly price is $51, against $309 to $623 on Cleanup's weekly plan.
- Privacy you can verify. Data Not Collected on the App Store, no analytics, advertising or attribution SDK, no server that sees your photos.
- Photo compression with stated tradeoffs. JPEG, HEIC, Live Photos, Portrait, edited, RAW and HDR photos get smaller copies, and the app lists what each copy loses before it starts. Videos show their expected size before you compress.
- Files and calendar. Big and old files in Downloads and iCloud Drive folders you choose, and old calendar events.
- Reversibility. App Bin keeps photo and video cleanups reversible until you confirm. Files usually go to Recently Deleted in Files; when iOS cannot move a file stored On My iPhone there, permanent deletion requires a separate confirmation.
- Honesty about limits. Every tool has an (i) screen. No "system scan", no "junk" numbers that iOS does not expose.
How to switch from Cleanup to 1Cleaner
1Cleaner is on the App Store. To switch:
- Cancel the Cleanup subscription: Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Cleanup › Cancel Subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel it. You keep Pro until the paid period ends.
- Install 1Cleaner from the App Store, and grant access to Photos. Full access gives the best results; limited access works too.
- Run Smart Clean, review the groups, move extras to App Bin, then confirm. Empty Recently Deleted in Photos to permanently remove those items. The free-space figure may take time to update, and iCloud-optimized items may occupy less space on the device than their original file sizes.
- Decide later whether to support the app with Premium. Nothing is locked except unlimited Swipe Clean.
1Cleaner: the private iPhone and iPad cleaner. Free to use, $0.99 a week, $2.99 a month or $19.99 a year. No ads, no tracking, no account.
